I've just finished reading Flash Forward by Robert J. Sawyer. I got the feeling about halfway through that there may have been a movie or TV series like this - and there is, its called...Flash Forward. Duh. Not a bad story, great concept, the writing however is another matter.
I'm no literary genius, but some passages in this book need extracting and burning. There was a scene where 2 of the characters were negotiating the streets of Paris, the narration contained every single name of every single street, store name, etc which amounted to about 10 Zillion pounds of French words about about 8 seconds of actual story. Read aloud, this may have taken about 10 mins, removing the French shit? - "They went left, then right, then straight, then left then left again and arrived.".
I don't say this often but - Don't read it, watch it.
